Congress President Rahul Gandhi has filed a new affidavit in the Supreme Court on Monday in connection with the contempt petition filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi. In the new affidavit, the Congress president has expressed regret over the statement of his 'chowkidar chor', he has not apologized. In the new affidavit, Rahul Gandhi said that he has no intention of dragging the court in the political battle. He has accused Meenakshi of writing politics through contempt petition. The case is to be heard on Tuesday.

Appearing in front of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi's bench, Rahul Gandhi's counsel Sunil Fernandes said that he should be allowed to answer the contempt notice. The Bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjeev Khanna allowed Rahul Gandhi's lawyer to file counter affidavit. On April 23, the Supreme Court issued a criminal contempt notice to Rahul Gandhi.

On the contempt plea filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, Rahul Gandhi had expressed regret in his statement by giving an affidavit in the Supreme Court. This statement came out of his mouth in the election campaign during the election campaign. The statement he had given was based on common perception. The lawyer appearing on behalf of Rahul Gandhi on the previous hearing on April 23 in this matter had appealed to the matter to be dismissed, which was rejected by the court, sending a notice to Rahul Gandhi seeking a reply on the statement. The Congress President has answered the same notice today.
