Bandu Tirkey said that he will contest election from jail if he doesn’t get bail from court.

Former Minister Bandhu Tirkey, jailed in the National Sports Scam, is also facing a disproportionate assets case. Bandu said that JVM may have alliance with UPA even at the last minute.  Bandhu, who appeared in a special CBI court in a Disproportionate assets case, while talking to the media outside said that he has complete trust in the judiciary. If Bail is not granted, he will contest from jail. During this time a large number of JVM activists were present in the court.

Former Minister Raja Peter has also announced to contest elections from jail. Raja Peter, who has been in jail for the last two years in the Ramesh Singh Munda murder case, has been allowed to contest elections by the NIA court. He will file nomination from Bundu subdivision on 12 November. Peter will contest from Tamar Assembly seat. It is not clear whether he will contest the elections independently or from any party.

Jharkhand is so forward in the cases of contesting elections from jail. In 2009 Assembly Elections, Polush Soren had defeated BJP's Koche Munda from Khoti Assembly area. Similarly, in 2009, Kameshwar Baitha tried his luck in Palamu Parliamentary constituency while in Sasaram jail. Now Raja Peter and Bandu Tirkey is also contesting the elections from Jail.
