Navre said that he has gone through all the controversial comments made by Sadhvi Pragya Thakur on social media about his father. Responding to them, she said, "I do not want to honor her or her statement."

Hemant Karkare was the head of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra, who was fighting terrorists in the 26/11 Mumbai attack. Two weeks ago, after joining BJP and nominating BJP candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, Pragya Thakur made a derogatory comment against Karkare. He said that he had died because he had cursed him for behaving badly with him during the investigation of the Malegaon blast, in which Thakur was the main accused.
"He taught us that there is no religion of terrorism. No religion teaches anyone to kill each other … This is an ideology which is to be defeated. In his life, in his 24-year career in the police, he helped everyone. Even in his death, he was trying to save his city, his country. He loved his uniform and kept it before us and before our own life. I just want everyone to remember him.
38-year-old Navare is Hemant Karkare's eldest daughter and settled in the US with her husband and two daughters.
