Ekta Kapoor has made a mark by entertaining the audience for years with many great shows like Hum Paanch, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kahin Kisi Roz, Kahin To Hoga. Apart from producing television shows, Ekta has also produced many hit Bollywood movies and series. In the year 2020, Ekta has also been honored with the Padma Shri Award. Ekta Started her career like this

Ekta Kapoor has always been a party animal. When she turned 15, her father refused to give her money apart from pocket money. Ekta always had a craze to get married, when she told this to her father, Jitendra said, either you get married, or work instead of party, which is what I want. Following her father's advice, Ekta started doing an internship with ad maker Kailash Surendranath, where she later started working.

Help from father became her a producer

After getting Jitendra's help during the job, Ekta Kapoor started working as a producer. She has produced more than 130 daily soaps under the Balaji Telefilm banner. After getting success in the television industry, she produced the film Kyunki… Main Jhooth Nahi Bolta in the year 2001. After this she produced many films like Kuch To Hai, Krishna Cottage, Kya Kool Hain Hum, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Shor in the City, Love Sex aur Dhokha.

Made headlines by creating bold content

OTT platform Alt Balaji was launched by Balaji Telefilms Limited in the year 2017 for which Ekta has produced many films and series. The content of most of ALTBalaji's series and films is very bold, due to which she has been surrounded by controversies many times. Her video on demand platform series Gandii Baat, Broken But Beautiful, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain, Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat, His Storyy and The Married Woman are quite popular.

Virgin Mother through Surrogacy

Ekta was so busy with her work that her father told her that she never got married. After being a virgin for 44 years, the actress decided to become a mother without marriage in the year 2019. The producer has become the mother of a son Ravi through surrogacy.

Ekta Kapoor remained in controversy due to these reasons

  • Ekta Kapoor's show Jodha-Akbar became quite popular, although the producers were surrounded by a lot of controversies due to its content. There was a sit-in demonstration against the show by the people of Rajput Kshatriya Akhil Bharatiya Mahasabha. They alleged that Jodha and Akbar's relationship was being misrepresented in the show.
  • Ekta Kapoor wanted to make a Hindi film on the Japanese novel The Devotional of Suspect X, but Malayalam filmmakers already started the film with a visual title. As soon as the information was received, she sent a notice against the makers.
  • Rajeev Khandelwal, who rose to fame with Ekta Kapoor's show Kahin To Hoga, had said many things against her. Rajeev had said that he doesn't need Ekta to move ahead in his career and he doesn't even like Ekta's shows. After Rajeev's statement, a long debate broke out between Ekta and him, after which she decided to never work with Rajeev.
  • Ekta Kapoor's XXX series came into controversy when an army officer's uniform was used in it in a bold scene. After the release of the series, Hindustani Bhau lodged a complaint against her at the police station.
