Uneducated people consider them as a burden and they either used to kill them or get them married at a very young age. Indian girl had to go through with lot of difficulties in her life. Although, situation has slightly improved since Independence as government has taken a lot of initiatives and established programmes to encourage girl education and also have been provided with the several rights which they can use to grab an opportunities.

These schemes of central government are applicable throughout the country. The key objectives of these schemes is to save a girl child from social ills such as gender biased abortions and advance the education of girl child all over the country. This scheme was initially targeted at districts that were recognised to have low sex ratio ex fewer women child as compared to men child but later expanded to include other parts of the country as well. This is primarily an education based initiative to help change social attitude and does not involve direct cash transfer.

With the aim of changing social attitude towards girls since independence, central government has tried their best to set a free environment where girls can take decisions of their life by their own without being imposed by anyone. Since independence, Government has sponsored many schemes like Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao, CBSE Udaan and Sukanaya Samridhi scheme.

In conclusion, now in India each and every girl is entitled to get education, there are still some areas where girls are fully oblivious of all these schemes and rights which have been given to them due to which they are unable to get an education. Government should spread awareness among them and these small remote areas must be covered by the government.
