ED reaches Delhi HC against Trial Court for Granting Bail to P. Chidambaram

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday directed the Delhi High Court against the advance bail granted to senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram in the Aircel Maxis case. In the previous hearing, Delhi's Howes Avenue Court granted P. Chidambaram and his son anticipatory bail in the Aircel Maxis case. Chidambaram-Karti was received from the Rouse Avenue Court, since then speculations were being made that both the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate could appeal against it in the Delhi High Court.

During the hearing on anticipatory bail, the two agencies (CBI-ED) had opposed the anticipatory bail in Rouse Avenue Court, saying that if both get bail they can tamper with the evidence.

At the same time, the Rouse Avenue Court has granted anticipatory bail by directing P. Chidambaram and Karti Chidambaram not to tamper with the evidence but not to influence the witnesses. Obviously, both ED and CBI drank after this direction and anticipatory bail of the court. Chidambaram and Karti cannot arrest Chidambaram. Please tell that in the Aircel Maxis deal case, the father and son are in anticipatory bail.

Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram is currently lodged in judicial custody in Delhi's Tihar Jail in the INX Media case. Chidambaram is accused of the Aircel Maxis deal case with FDI approval of Rs 3500 crore. Despite this, P. Chidambaram gave FDI in the Aircel Maxis case without the approval of Cabinet Committee on Economics Affairs as finance minister.
