Economist Amartya Sen Said: Jai Shri Ram’s Slogan is Not Related to Bengali Culture

The Nobel prize-winning economist, Amartya Sen,said that the slogan 'Jai Shriram' is not associated with Bengali culture like 'Maa Durga' and it is used as a 'excuse to beat people' Sen said here at Jadavpur University that 'Durga' is omnipresent in the lives of the Bengali people.

He said, "Jai Shri Ram Nara is not associated with Bengali culture." Today Ram Navami is getting 'popularity' and he had never heard of it before. He said, "I asked my four-year-old granddaughter who is her favorite God? She responded that Mother Durga. Mother Durga is present in our life. I think Jai Shree Ram is a slogan used as a sham to beat people. '
