AIIMS of Bhopal stops the trial of the Mycobacterium W (MW) drug which was being used in the treatment of Corona patients. Apart from Bhopal, it was being tested in 4 AIIMS across the country. In Raipur, ICMR immediately stopped its trial after seeing the harmful effects of this drug on patients. After this, the trial has immediately stopped in Bhopal. Along with this, a hope of defeating the corona has died down. This drug named Mycobacterium W (MW) was used in the treatment of leprosy patients.
Negative effects in Raipur
This trial of Mycobacterium W i.e. MW was first to be completed at Bhopal AIIMS. After all the preparations, they started giving medicines to the patients. The first phase showed some positive effects as well. Meanwhile, AIIMS Delhi, PGI Chandigarh started the trials and later AIIMS Raipur also joined. As per the rules, ICMR stopped the entire trial after negative impact on patients in AIIMS Raipur. Therefore, the experimental session of this medicine also stopped in AIIMS Bhopal.
Approval from the Food and Drug Administration of America
AIIMS Bhopal had also got approval from the Food and Drug Administration of America for the trials of the Mycobacterium W (MW) on the patients. This drug was studied comparatively by giving a certain dose to the less serious patients of Corona and serious patients. According to AIIMS Bhopal Director Dr Sarman Singh, this drug produces immunity in the body to prevent external infection in the body. In simple language, this drug increase the immunity of patients.
Dose for less severe patients
If a person has Coronavirus, they will witness a significant increase in proteins which cause harm to the body. This drug’s main purpose and use are to restrict these proteins from increasing. Mycobacterium W (MW) also treats some types of cancer with leprosy. After witnessing the negative effects of this drug at one centre, the trail has dropped. However, the dose of this medicine is being given to less serious patients and asymptomatic patients.
