New Delhi: Amidst the horrific Corona crisis, the statements of the country's largest Covid 19 vaccine producer, Adar Poonawala, have caused panic and apprehensions in the corridors of power. In such a situation, a diplomatic team has been appointed to discuss and convince Poonawala.

According to highly placed sources, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, who went to London and some senior diplomats accompanying him, will also meet Poonawala in London. It is an indication that with the help of this conversation, there will be an attempt to reduce Poonawala's resentment and apprehension.

Jaishankar is in London till 6 May

At the same time, there will be an effort to fumble their mind. Jaishankar is in London till 6 May to attend the meeting of 7 foreign ministers. It is important that in the past media statements from Honor Poonawala, who arrived in the UK from India, there was a talk of getting threats from influential leaders.

At the same time, Honor has recently said to set up a new vaccine production plant in Britain. Serum Institute has also been citing problems in vaccine production for the last few days. However, many steps have been taken by the government, from providing Y category protection cover to Adar Poonawala, to take up the matter of supply requirements of the vaccine-producing company with the US.

Meanwhile, informed sources do not rule out the possibility that if the matter is not handled on time, then this issue related to vaccine production may also become a matter of concern for the government.

Adar Poonawalla will Return to India Soon

In such a situation, efforts are going on to open the way of dialogue with Adar Poonawalla, the head of Serum Institute, which is making the most vaccine for India. However, Poonawala has said that he will return to India soon. But the questions of apprehension about his latest statements remain.

Keep in mind that the research for the Covishield vaccine that the Serum Institute is making was done by Oxford University with the help of the UK government. At the same time, it was commercialized by the German AstraZeneca company, after which the Indian company Serum Institute was made a partner in its extensive production.

Significantly, the demand for vaccines has increased after the second wave of corona came in the midst of widespread vaccination in India. At the same time, the government has also opened vaccination for the age group of 18-44 years.

Problems Occurring in Vaccine Supply

But there are problems regarding the supply of vaccines in that proportion. The central government has made an advance payment of about Rs 1700 crore to Serum Institute for doses of 11 crore vaccines for May to July. At the same time, against the previous order of 10 crore vaccines, the Serum Institute has supplied only 8.74 crore vaccines till 3 May 2021.
