The father of 48-year-old Diljit Diljit said that the son contested and won at the behest of the people.

Born in a family of farmers in Bhangchadi, a small village in Muktsar, Diljitpal Singh went to Canada and won the hearts of the people there. Now he has been elected as the MLA of the city of Winnipeg. After studying up to the sixth in the village itself, Diljit got his education from the government school in village Rupana till the tenth standard. He then went to Punjab Agricultural University after doing plus two from DAV Chandigarh.

After doing B.Sc Agriculture in Chandigarh, he also worked as Assistant Professor. During his job, he lived in Gurdaspur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana. In 2010 he moved to Canada. He first moved to Surrey and later moved to Winnipeg in Monitoba.

Daljit's father Mangal Singh says that being fond of the bhangra, Diljitpal also opened a dance academy Bulla Art Center there. His colleague Dr. Anil Sharma said that despite being of lesser stature, Diljit used to do a spectacular break in PAU. He later became the captain and coach of the Bhangra team.

The father of 48-year-old Diljit Diljit said that the son contested and won at the behest of the people. He has no political background before. Diljit's grandfather once became the sarpanch of the village. Their second son also lives in California. Mother Amarjeet Kaur was happy to distribute her son as MLA.
