The advertisement of the Congress government of Punjab to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel has increased the dilemma of the Gehlot government in Rajasthan. In the advertisement of the Punjab government, Rajasthan has been described as the most expensive petrol and diesel among the neighboring states. This advertisement of the Congress government of Punjab questioning the government of its own party has given an issue to the BJP. The BJP has intensified its attack on the Gehlot government on the basis of the advertisement of the Punjab government. After reducing the excise duty on petrol and diesel, now the BJP is demanding the Rajasthan government to reduce VAT as well.
Punjab Congress has announced that petrol will be cheaper by Rs 10 and diesel by Rs 5 in Punjab. Giving full-page advertisements in local newspapers, describing it as the cheapest diesel petrol from neighboring states. In the advertisement of the Punjab government, the rates of petrol and diesel have been given in comparison with Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan, in which Punjab has shown the lowest rates as compared to the three states. So the table shows the highest rates in Rajasthan among the four states.
Rajasthan's diesel petrol rates have also been shown up to Rs 5 per liter in the advertisement of the Punjab government. In the advertisement, the rate of petrol in Rajasthan is Rs 116.27 per liter and diesel Rs 100.46 per liter, while this rate is less. So petrol in Rajasthan currently costs Rs 111.10 a liter and diesel Rs 95.71 a liter.
There is a lot of discussion in the political circles about the advertisement of the Punjab government. Which has put the Gehlot government in a dilemma. In charge of the Punjab Congress, Harish Chaudhary is the Revenue Minister in the Rajasthan government. Also, an advertisement has been issued from the government of the state under his charge. So which has put his own government on the backfoot.
It is also being linked to the ongoing tussle between the Punjab Congress and the government. Congress has been a campaign against inflation since November 14. The Punjab government's advertisement will blunt the edge of Congress' campaign in Rajasthan. Also, there are many discussions in Congress regarding this advertisement of the Punjab government.
Rajasthan BJP has made an issue with Channi Sarkar's advertisement. BJP will now cash in on this issue. Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod said – Punjab government has targeted the government by issuing advertisements mentioning the highest VAT in Rajasthan. Now the Congress government itself is accusing the Gehlot government of selling expensive petrol and diesel. So now they should reduce VAT.
