Demonstration at ISKCON Center against Attack on Hindus in Bangladesh

Protests will be held in 150 countries today against attacks on temples and Hindus in Bangladesh. These demonstrations will be held at ISKCON centres in different countries. During this prayer meetings will be organized and the voice of taking strict action against the attackers will be raised. It is known that during the violence, one person was killed and several people were injured in the attack on the ISKCON temple in Bangladesh.

Mayapur is the global headquarters of ISKCON. Radharaman Das, vice-president of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Kolkata, said that the pictures coming from Bangladesh are very sad for the world. He said that protests have started in parts of New York, Moscow, Russia, Australia, Canada. On 23 October, in all ISKCON temples and other government establishments in 150 countries, devotees will protest against the Bangladesh incident.

Favour of the people of Noakhali

Radharaman Das said that we are sad and hurt about these attacks. We promote peace and brotherhood. How can a mob target us? We have always been in favour of the people of Noakhali (in Bangladesh). He said that many people, including small children, died in the violence.

ISKCON has organized protests

Violence against puja pandals and Hindus took place during Durga Puja in Bangladesh. Against this, ISKCON has organized protests in many other places including Kolkata in India. ISKCON members also demonstrated outside Bangladesh's Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the United Nations have also been sought intervention from ISKCON regarding this violence.

20 houses were burnt, Hindus attacked

In the case of the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh on Durga Puja, PM Sheikh Hasina has ordered strict action. There was widespread violence in Bangladesh between 13 and 17 October. Durga pandals were demolished. According to reports, the mob ransacked 66 houses and torched at least 20 houses late on Sunday night. Hindus were attacked. The violence still hasn't stopped completely.

Main accused of violence Iqbal Hussain arrested

Iqbal Hussain, the main accused in Bangladesh violence, was arrested from Cox's Bazar on Thursday night. He is suspected of having a copy of the Quran in the Durga Puja pandal in Comilla. TV footage showed Hussain being brought from Cox's Bazar to Comilla road under heavy security. After preliminary interrogation, he would be produced in the court, where an appeal would be made to remand him to police for the next several days, officials said.
