Providing the facility to Charge electric vehicles in parking lots in Delhi is going to be mandatory. If the rules are not followed, the parking license will be canceled. This will provide considerable comfort to the people of Delhi as well as the increase in e-vehicles will reduce the level of pollution in the entire NCR with Delhi.

The Transport Department will periodically inspect these parking lots operating under civic agencies. More than 15 million vehicles are registered in Delhi. The number of e-vehicles in these is 75 thousand (3500 two wheelers, 1100 cars and 68 thousand e-rickshaws).

The main reason for this is the lack of charging facility for e-vehicles. Delhi is the first state in the country to implement the e-vehicle policy. Under this, subsidy will be available on two wheelers and three wheelers. The government aims to include 25 per cent of e-vehicles in Delhi's total vehicles by 2023.

BSES Rajdhani Power Limited plans to set up 50 charging stations by next year. Also, there will be a separate lane for emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire tenders, police vehicles etc. on the roads.
