Delhi Weather: August 17 was the Hottest Day in 10 Years

Summer is once again on its way to make a record in Delhi-NCR. Tuesday was the hottest day recorded in the last 10 years at 38 degrees Celsius. Earlier in the year 2011, the maximum temperature was 38 degrees Celsius. The weather is not likely to change in the next 24 hours as well. Along with the maximum, the minimum temperature will also be recorded above normal. It is expected that the weather of Delhi-NCR can take a turn from Thursday.

According to the Meteorological Department, since Tuesday morning, the attitude of Suryadev has remained strong. The scorching sun in the afternoon made people miserable. Due to excessive sunlight, people who came out of the houses were taking the help of shade. Even after the sun had set, the sultry heat kept the problems going. To get relief from this, people were seen resorting to soft drinks.

According to the Regional Meteorological Department, on Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38 degrees Celsius, 4 above normal, and 28.1 degrees Celsius, 1 above normal. In the last 24 hours, the humidity level in the air was a maximum of 83 and a minimum of 46 percent. Due to the high humidity level, there was a feeling of sweat and sticky heat.

Maximum mercury was recorded in different areas of Delhi

Talking about different areas of Delhi, usually, the maximum mercury was recorded above 35 at all standard centers. It was 38 in Palam, 37.9 in Lodi Road, 37 in Ridge, 37.6 in Aya Nagar, 37.8 in Gurugram, 36.3 in Ghaziabad, 38.8 in Najafgarh, and 39.1 degrees Celsius in Sports Complex.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is not expected to change in the next 24 hours. The weather will take a turn from Thursday and there is a possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR. The department has issued a yellow alert for August 19 and an orange alert for August 20. With the possibility of rain for the whole week, the mercury is expected to decrease.

Average range air

The air of Delhi-NCR was recorded in the average category on Tuesday. The worst air quality index (AQI) stood at 189 in Greater Noida. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average AQI of Delhi stood at 150, Faridabad 180, Ghaziabad 171, Gurugram 118, and Noida 153 on Tuesday.

According to Safar India, the AQI is not likely to change for the next three days. Pollution in the air is increasing due to the dusty winds blowing from the west direction and the dust blowing from the roads. The level of PM10 in the air is being recorded up to 80 percent. In the last 24 hours, the level of PM10 in the air was 150 and the level of PM 2.5 was 48 micrograms per cubic meter.
