Delhi Reports 648 COVID-19 Cases, Positivity Rate Dip below 1 Percent

In Delhi, 648 fresh cases of coronavirus infection were reported in the last 24 hours. It is the lowest single-day spike in the national capital since March 18. In addition, 1622 patients have recovered, while 86 people died in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number tally has now increased to 14,26,240. Out of these 13,90,963 people have been cured and 24,237 have died. Currently, there are 11,040 patients, who are undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, the positivity rate has also dipped to 0.99 percent.

Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday has expressed the possibility that the national capital is likely to receive the first consignment of Sputnik V, the Russian Covid-19 vaccine, in June. He also said that vaccination is key to the fight against coronavirus. Kejriwal also informed the city currently has around 944 cases of mucormycosis or black fungus, including 300 at the central government-run hospitals.

More than 1.50 lakh cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 1,52,734 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 2,80,47,534.

The country also witnessed 2,38,022 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,56,92,342. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 91.60%. With 3,128 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 3,29,100. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.17%. There has been a steady decline in active cases of coronavirus in the country. According to the latest data of the Union Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, the active cases in the country have been reduced by 88,416.
