Delhi Metro’s Magental Line from Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West was hit by a Technical snag

When the train living from Jasola Vihar towards Botanical Garden on Magenta Line, the crossovers zone started showing some signal issue at 12:05 pm.  Because of this, the speed of trains between Jasola and Kalindi Kunj had to be restricted to 25 Kmph as a part of a fail-safe mechanism. This resulted in minor bunching between the two stations.

The overall services were not affected and technical teams are working on resolving the issue. The services resumed by 3:30 pm. The issue comes exactly a week after services on the Blue Line (Dwarka sector 21/ Dwarka- Noida City Centre/Vaishali) fell apart when the monitoring systems at the operating control centre (OCC) blacked out.

The issue persisted for two days and escalated to such an extent that commuters were left at the mercy of private cab aggregators to reach their destinations.

The Delhi Metro is often rigged by multiple problems such as technical glitches, leaking ceilings during the monsoon season, faulty token vending machines (TVMs), dysfunctional escalators, and more.

"Technical problems have overwhelmed the Delhi Metro for a long time," said Ajay Malik, a businessman who commutes from Vasant Vihar to Chandni Chowk every day. Calling the TVMs more of a headache than an easy solution, commuters told that there have been times when they were made to stand in the queue of faulty TVMs, with no staffer to resolve the issue.

Sugandha Bhatia, who commutes from Janakpuri West to Rajiv Chowk said, "Rajiv Chowk has at least four to five machines, yet the problem of non-functional TVMs persists especially during weekends."

Recalling how she was once stranded at the Pink Line station, Mitali Ganguly said, "The so-called world-class system got submerged this July when a part of the newly opened Bhikaji Cama Place metro station was filled with rainwater," Commuters also raised the problem of non-functional escalators at some of the metro stations.
