Delhi Government is Responsible for the Delay in Justice with Nirbhaya, said Javadekar

Political rhetoric has started on the delay in hanging Nirbhaya convicts. The BJP on Thursday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi that the execution of the culprits was delayed due to the laxity of the state government. Union minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar strongly attacked the AAP, saying that the Delhi government was responsible for delay in justice.

Questions raised on AAP government on delay in notice

Javadekar said that in the last 2.5 years, why did the Delhi government not give notice to the convicts for filing the mercy petition? Javadekar said, 'There is only one reason why the accused of the Nirbhaya scandal that rocked the country has not yet hanged. Due to the negligence of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, hanging could not happen. His appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court in 2017 itself. He was hanged. There is a process under which the Tihar Jail Administration has to give notice of what petitions you have to give. But this notice was not given until October last year. This is a delay of two and a half years, it is a sympathy to the culprits of the Delhi government. During the hearing on the death warrant, Delhi government lawyer Rahul Mehra said that on 22 culprits cannot be hanged. '

Sisodia said, take the action immediately

Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that his government took immediate action on the mercy petition of the culprits. The Delhi government has recommended the mercy petition of Mukesh Singh be dismissed. Sisodia said that the government took this decision quite rapidly.

BJP targeted Congress for Sikh riots

Javadekar, citing the Justice SN Dhingra Committee report on the 1984 Sikh riots, targeted the Congress fiercely.

'With those who assassinate Congress'

Referring to the statement of Congress leader Sam Pitroda, the Union Information Broadcasting Minister said that the mentality of the Congress has been to avoid problems. This happened here, the attitude belongs to the Congress. This shows that the Congress' hand is with those who kill.

He also questioned the Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission set up in 1985. He said that Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission was formed in 1985. Hundreds of affidavits not appeared before him. An FIR was also filed on these affidavits after 6-7 years. The court also acquitted the accused citing the delay.

Took a pinch on Raut's statement

Javadekar also took a dig at Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's statement on former PM Indira Gandhi. He said, 'Man sometimes tells the truth. The Congress was accused of helping Dawood to flee the country. Congress does communal politics, does vote bank politics. Please tell that Raut had said that former PM Indira used to meet underworld don Karim Lala.
