Senior IPS officer of the 1988 batch of Rajasthan cadre Pankaj Kumar Singh has been appointed as Director-General of Border Security Force (BSF). Singh is currently the Special Director-Genera of Border Security Force. The cabinet committee has approved his appointment. He will be appointed from August 31. Pankaj Kumar Singh will be the DG of BSF till December 31, 2022. It is also a coincidence that Pankaj Kumar Singh's father Prakash Singh has also been the DG of BSF. After the father, the son has also got a chance to command this force.
The image of Pankaj Kumar Singh has been that of a flamboyant and gentle police officer. He had gone on deputation to BSF with effect from 7 February 2020. Presently he is working as Special DG. Singh has been in the CBI. He has worked in many high positions in Rajasthan Police. He held the top post of ADG Crime from 2014 to 2018. From 24 December 2018 to February 2020, he held the post of ADG Traffic.
In Central Police Forces, PK Singh has more than 12 years of experience. PK Singh has been on deputation in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for 8 years. In which he worked as Superintendent of Police (SP) in CBI from 7 July 1999 to 30 September 2002 and as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) from 2002 to 2 June 2009. PK Also, on behalf of the United Nations, Singh has lived in Bosnia for a year.
PK Singh has also been the SP in 5 districts. Singh has been the SP of Jaipur Rural, Bhilwara, Jodhpur, Alwar, and Kota cities. He was also the IG of Jaipur Range. The same PK Singh's father Prakash Singh has also been a famous IPS officer of the country. Prakash Singh has been the DGP of UP. Prakash Singh has been the DG of BSF. After father, the son has now got the post of BSF DG.
