Death Warrant Might be Issued on January 7: Nirbhaya Case

A death warrant may soon be issued against the four convicts, Vinay, Akshay, Mukesh and Pawan, hanged in the Nirbhaya case. It is being told that the four convicts have completed the period of filing mercy petition with the President. Of these, only Vinay's mercy petition is pending with the President and that too has been dismissed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Now it is yet to be finalized by the President. In such a situation, it is being told by the prosecution that in the next hearing to be held on January 7, the Patiala House Court of Delhi can issue a death warrant for execution during the hearing.

In fact, in the last hearing, the Patiala House Court of Delhi deferred the decision on the petition of Nirbhaya's parents till 7 January. In this petition, Nirbhaya's parents have demanded that a death warrant be issued to hang the four convicts at the earliest. He says that seven years have passed, but the petitioners are being unnecessarily petitioned to postpone the time of the court and the execution of the sentence.

If the prosecution lawyer Rajiv Mohan is to be believed, then the Patiala House Court can issue a death warrant on the 7th hearing in the next hearing, because the deadline for the curative petition has expired. Rajeev Mohan says that the Supreme Court has given time for the curative petition only during the last hearing and its deadline has been reached. Along with this, he also said that even after the issuance of the death warrant, the curative petit can be filed.
