DDCA Ombudsman Refuses the Resignation of Rajat Sharma

Retired Justice Badar Durrej Ahmed, the Ombudsman of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), on Sunday ordered that Rajat Sharma should continue in his presidency in DDCA. He has also banned the reinstatement of suspended general secretary Vinod Tihara.  Rajat Sharma resigned from his post on Saturday citing considerable tussle and pressure without naming anyone.

Regarding the resignation of senior journalist Rajat Sharma, DDCA ombudsman Badar Durrej also said that because this process is not done properly, all rights cannot be taken from the president and the suspension of Tihara cannot be revoked until his case is pending with the Ombudsman. In such a situation, Rajat Sharma may remain the President of DDCA for a few more days.

The Ombudsman in its order said that on 13 November 2019, three alleged resolutions were passed by the apex council, which are illegal. One of these is the restoration of Vinod Tihara, who was suspended by the apex council on 2 November. His case is under consideration with me, giving him two weeks to reply, but so far no response has come from Tihara.

The Ombudsman further said that no alleged motion about Tihara can be passed, as long as his case is under consideration with me. The apex council cannot pass the order of resignation of Sharma and any other board members. In such a situation, these orders are put on hold. All the members who have resigned will be free to do their duty due to the interest of cricket. The apex council cannot pass any resolution without the permission of the Ombudsman. All these complaints will be heard on 27 November.
