The Swiss luxury watchmakers Hublot is now accepting bitcoin as a medium of payment with their new release of 200 limited piece collections which can be purchased by exchanging crypto-currency.
Hublot and BitPay, which are cryptocurrency providers; have teamed up to accept the crypto as a medium of payment with its e-boutique and will continue to accept crypto with this too.
Taking at Twitter, they said; “Introducing the new #BigBangUnico Essential Grey, limited edition of 200 pieces only accessible on e-commerce site hublot.com. Exclusively, on our Hublot United States eBoutique, customers can shop using selected Cryptocurrencies with BitPay.”
In a process of buying the watches from this particular limited-edition, customers have to pay around $21,800 or can say slightly more than the current price of 1 bitcoin.
However, Hublot isn’t the first luxury brand to accept Crypto as a viable payment option. Gucci, Farfetch, and Balenciaga have also done it before confirming Bitcoin as limited or full acceptance of it.
Accordingly, luxury jewellery resellers SFLMaven and Continental Diamond jewellery store have also accepted Bitcoin as a payment option previously.
Also, Hublot’s rival originating from Switzerland only, Tag Huer announced earlier on 19 May that they will start accepting Cryptocurrencies on online stores as a way of making payments.
Big brands are increasingly moving towards welcoming Bitcoin as a means of payment to reach out to new customers. BitPay which is the mediator in the process of providing crypto infrastructure helps these large companies to go ahead with this system without any expertise in the technical knowledge of this.
