On Sunday, the police disclosed the matter of sending a letter threatening to behead Tara Chand Shastri, the priest of Hanuman temple located in MSJ College premises of Bharatpur in Mathura Gate police station area.
The police have arrested Manoj Shastri and his wife Manisha Devi, who threatened him.
District Superintendent of Police Shyam Singh said that the earlier priest posted at Hanuman temple had sent a letter threatening to kill the new priest along with his wife to get a job in the temple.
He also appealed to the general public not to put wrong posts in any case. People try to communalise mutual disputes for the sake of personal interest.
The District Superintendent of Police said that Manoj Shastri, the first priest of the temple, was removed by the temple committee three months ago.
He didn't have any work. He was facing difficulties to take care of his family. Accused Manoj Shastri, along with his wife Manisha pasted a threatening letter in the temple premises to remove temple priest Tara Chand Sharma from the job.
After receiving the threatening letter, the police came to know that there was a dispute three months back to remove the priest from the temple.
The police checked the CCTV cameras installed on the roads, in which a man was seen going towards the temple on a bicycle.
The person turned out to be Manoj Shastri, the earlier priest of the temple.
The police have arrested the couple. The wife has been sent to jail after being produced in court and Manoj will be taken on police remand for two days.
