In a major development from the Hyderabad Gang Rape Case, the Police today would be appealing to grant an exemption for trying juveniles as adults. Now it would be the discretion of the Juvenile Justice Board whether it accepts or rejects the plea filed by the police.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand himself confirmed the development. The case includes six accused out of which four of them fall in the category of minors. All of them are either backed by strong political influence or powerful contacts.
What was the case?
On May 28, a 17-year-old girl went to a club for a party. At the party, she met a boy and it is believed that she left the club along with him and his friends in a Mercedes after they promised that they would be dropping her home.
The accused soon reached a cafe nearby and then switched to an Innova. The girl then was allegedly taken to an isolated spot on Road No. 44 and was then Gang-raped in the car, at Banjara Hills. The area is a posh locality in the city of Hyderabad and is for residence many high-profile politicians, businessmen, actors, and other influential people. The girl later was yet again dropped to the pub at around 7.30 pm.
