Last year itself, the ED had registered a case against Agrasen Gehlot. In July last year, the ED had raided Agrasen Gehlot's farmhouse and firms in Jodhpur. The raids took place last year when Congress MLAs were under fencing during the revolt of the Sachin Pilot camp. At that time the Congress had made allegations of vendetta action.

High Court stay on arrest

ED cannot arrest Agrasen Gehlot in the fertilizer scam at present. However, the Jodhpur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court had recently stayed the arrest for him. In the High Court, Gehlot had promised to cooperate in the ED's investigation.

Alleged wrongful export of subsidized fertilizer

There is a ban on the export of fertilizers given to farmers on subsidy. According to the case registered with the ED, Agrasen Gehlot is accused of exporting banned subsidized fertilizer. The company owned by Agrasen Gehlot had exported a large consignment. He was an authorized dealer of Indian Potash Limited (IPL). According to the allegations, Agrasen Gehlot's firm bought potash fertilizer between 2007 and 2009 at subsidized rates and sold it to other companies instead of giving it to farmers. It was also exported to other countries.
