World Athletics Issues Health and Safety Guidelines

The sports’ governing body, World Athletics has released the Health and Safety Guidelines on Coronavirus.

The sports' governing body, World Athletics has released the Health and Safety Guidelines on Coronavirus. This includes pre-events, stadiums, competition, and special measures for players. Players will be allowed to visit the venue during competition only if they are wearing masks and have a sanitizer.

Guidelines related to pre-event:

1. The organizing committee will give a welcome kit to every player. It will have a booklet detailing three masks for the day, sanitizers, infection prevention clothes, safety protocols related to their events.

2. Everyone, including the driver, must wear a mask while coming to the hotel from the airport/station. There should be a distance between all.

What to take care of in the stadium:          

1. During the warm-up event, the player will wear masks. Players are called at different times.

2. The warm-up zone should have an open area, close to the stadium.

3. There should be a locked room in the outdoor space, the mask is also mandatory for the players here. It should be sanitized after each use.

Precaution to be taken during the competition:

1. In addition to masks, players have to wear protective glasses.

2. After crossing the finish line, players have to stay away from public and official so that the risk of infection is minimized.

After Competition Guidelines:

1. Outside the media zone stadium, there should be a minimum number of people.

2. There should be a thin glass between media-players, it should be sanitized after every conversation.

3. Most people are going to play on the field. The live award should not be ceremonial.

4. The entire area will be sanitized after the competition.

Other Important Measures:

1. The starting block should be sanitized after each race.

2. It is necessary to add chlorine to the water used during steeplechase races.

3. During the relay race, the beton should be sanitized every time it is used.

4. The relay team avoided gathering and hugging after the race.

5. Use of sanitizer after every prompt during a vertical jump.

5. Landing mats should be cleaned after every jump.

6. A thin layer of recycled plastic or tissue should be used on a jumping mat.

7. During the throwing event, the official must clean hands after every handling or use disposable globs.

8. The room that the players use during the combined event should be made in the open area.
