United Nation Seeks Funding for COVID-19 aid Transport

The United Nations Food Agency on Thursday warned that its global transport system would be affected without funding in view of the world facing the epidemic caused by COVID-19.

The United Nations Food Agency on Thursday warned that its global transport system would be affected without funding in view of the world facing the epidemic caused by COVID-19. It will not be able to supply thousands of tons of masks, gloves and other essential equipment if it is not supported through funding. The United Nations called for assistance at the earliest, stating that by the third week of July, aid to 132 countries would be discontinued.

United Nation to stop this service from next month:

The World Food Programme on Friday warned that the Global Emergency Delivery Service continued to deliver humanitarian aid to various countries despite travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus, but it will now stop from the next month as funding decreases. This warning was given by the World Food Program (WFP) on Friday.

WFP stated that the demand for this service has reached a peak and hence the shortage has come. According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 8.5 million were infected by this virus till Friday. Due to the travel ban imposed by the country's governments, borders and airports were closed all over the world, which also halted supplies with supply chains and humanitarian workers, but the Emergency Delivery Service continued to operate as usual. So far 375 cargo and passenger flights have been sent under this program.
