Cases of hair fall are increasing in patients recovering from the corona. People who beat the virus in the second wave are now showing signs of hair breakage after skin allergies, rashes, weakness, fatigue, dry ice.

Experts say, there is a reduction in hair in such patients after 30 days of recovery. At the same time, such cases were reported in some patients even during Kovid. In some patients, lack of nutrients in the diet, fever, stress, restlessness, and changes in hormones can also be the reason for hair fall.

The number of such patients has doubled, says Dr. Shaheen Noorezdan, Senior Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. However, the reason for this is post covid inflammation. Changes in weight, lack of vitamin D, and B-12 can be big reasons for this.

Take protein in the diet

This type of hair fall is temporary, says Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Senior Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeon. This condition is called telogen effluvium. Usually, a person loses 100 hairs in a day, but in this condition, 300 to 400 hairs fall every day. Therefore, after beating corona, patients are advised to take a nutritious diet. Increase the amount of protein especially in the diet.

According to Dr. Kuldeep Singh, if this happens continuously for 5 to 6 weeks, then see a doctor. In such a situation, the patient is advised to wash the hair with a mild shampoo. According to the condition of the patient, massage with oil and groom the hair with a wide-toothed comb.

Keep these things in mind to prevent hair fall

  • Avoid taking the stress and make a habit of meditation daily.
  • Include protein, vitamin-D, and B-12-rich food in the diet.
  • Avoid using chemicals and heat for hairstyling.
  • If the problem still persists, then get the nutritional test done by doing a blood test.
