Pakistan: Number of Covid-19 Cases Increased to 11155, 79 Percent Cases Related to Local Infected

During the last 24 hours, there are 4,767 patients in Punjab, 3671 in Sindh, 1541 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 607 in Balochistan, 300 in Gilgit-Balistan, 214 in Islamabad and 55 in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

The number of cases of corona virus infection in Pakistan has crossed the level of 11,000 on Friday. The Health Ministry reported that about 79 percent of the total corona virus cases in Pakistan are from local infections. According to the National Health Service Ministry, 13 people have died here during the last 24 hours, after which the number of people who died here has risen to 237. 2527 people in the country have recovered from this disease.

There have been 642 new cases in the last 24 hours, after which the total number of infected cases in the country has increased to 11,155. During the last 24 hours, there are 4,767 patients in Punjab, 3671 in Sindh, 1541 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 607 in Balochistan, 300 in Gilgit-Balistan, 214 in Islamabad and 55 in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. So far, 13,365 tests have been conducted in the country, in which 6,839 tests have been done during the last 24 hours.

The number of positive cases is steadily increasing and officials have warned that the infection will reach its highest level by late May or early June. The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Friday that 79 percent of the cases were related to local infection.

The government has decided to implement the Track and Trace system, under which random testing will be started in a few days. Professor Amer Ikram of the National Institute of Health said that the situation has changed due to local infection, a decision has been taken to change the policy to deal with the epidemic.

He said that earlier most of the cases were coming from people who had come from abroad and cases of local infections were coming from people who had contact with foreign travelers. However, most cases are now found to be associated with local infection of the virus.
