Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, a total of 216,360,695 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 193,353,179 people have recovered, while 4,501,915 people have died.

Over 10 million doses administered in India in a single-day:

India on Friday achieved the highest ever vaccination record in a single day with nearly 1,03,35,290 doses administered across the country, according to the government release. According to the Health Ministry, 62,29,89,134 vaccine doses administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers (HCWs) getting inoculated and vaccination of frontline workers (FLWs) started from February 2. The Centre launched vaccination campaign for all people aged more than 45 from April 1. The government then decided to expand its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 eligible for vaccination from May 1.

FDA granted full approval to Pfizer-BioNtech's COVID-19 vaccine:

On the other hand, the Food and Drug Administration on Monday on Tuesday granted full approval to Pfizer-BioNtech's COVID-19 vaccine for people 16 years and older, making it the first in the United States to move beyond a state of emergency use. The decision will help the country to tackle vaccine shortage . United Airlines recently announced that its employees must show proof of vaccination within five weeks of regulatory approval.

More than 46,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 46,759 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,26,49,947. With 509 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,37,370.

The country also witnessed 31,374 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,18,52,802. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.56 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %. Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country stands at 3,59,775. The active cases rate in India stands at 1.10 %.
