Covaxin for Children likely to get DCGI approval soon: Sources

The Central Government and the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) are likely to grant the emergency use authorization to the Covaxin vaccines for children. According to the sources, the administration of both the doses of the vaccine to children has been completed. Now, blood samples sent for the third time to check the effectiveness in terms of producing antibodies among children.

A total of 90 children were included in the trials in Karnataka. The Covaxin trial will take 210 days to complete. More than 25,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 25,072 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,24,49,306. With 389 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,34,756.

The country also witnessed 44,157 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,16,80,626. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.63 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %.
