Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, a total of 204,313,966 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 183,485,282 people have recovered, while 4,320,341 people have died. In the last 24 hours, 5.22 lakh new cases were registered across the world. Meanwhile, 5.07 lakh people have also recovered, while 7,955 people died.

J&J Covid vaccine effective against Delta Variant in South Africa trials:

Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 has showed positive results in South Africa, the co-head of a trial, Glenda Gray, told reporters on Friday. Giving information, South African official Gray said that, as a research, about 4,77,234 health workers of the country have been vaccinated with J&J for the month of February.

She further said that, one dose of the vaccine is effective from 91 percent to 96.2 percent against death. At the same time, it is 67% effective against beta coronavirus and 71% effective against delta variants. South Africa's health regulators approved the use of the J&J vaccines in April.

More than 28,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 28,204 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,19,98,158. With 373 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,28,682.

The country also witnessed 41,511 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,11,80,968. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.45 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %.
