Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, 190,416,752 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 173,581,103 people have recovered, while 4,094,321 people have died.

Sydney tightens lockdown restrictions amid increasing Covid-19 cases:

The Australian government on Thursday tightened the lockdown restrictions in Sydney. The authorities have ordered a shutdown of building sites, and banned non-essential retail. On June 26, a two-week lockdown imposed in the city. A total of 111 new local cases of COVID-19 reported in NSW in the last 24 hours. One additional death due to coronavirus recorded in the state. At the same time, more than 1000 people tested positive in Sydney and its surrounding districts.

For the time being, supermarkets, pharmacies and hardware outlets included in the stores and shops that will remain open after the lockdown in Sydney. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, "I can't remember a time when our state has been challenged to such an extent."

Vietnam granted approval to Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine:

Vietnam on Thursday approved Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine 'Janssen' for emergency use in view of the increasing coronavirus infection in the country. With this, Johnson & Johnson's vaccine became the sixth vaccine to be approved in the Southeast Asian country. A record 3,416 new cases of infection registered in the country on Thursday, the biggest daily spike so far. Most cases of infection reported from Ho Chi Minh City.

More than 38,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 38,079 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,10,64,908. With 560 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,13,091.

The country also witnessed 43916 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,02,27,792. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.31 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.33 %.
