AY-4, a new variant of the Delta variant of Corona has been found in Indore. This variant has been revealed in genome sequencing of samples from seven patients. However, research is currently going on around the world regarding this variant. In such a situation, the situation is not clear about its nature, but many experts have advised caution, stating the infectious potential of this variant is faster than the old variant.

In Indore, 7 people were found to be corona victims in September. However, all these samples were sent for genome sequencing on 21 September. The genome sequencing report has recently been given by Delhi's NCDC Lab.

This variant was found in Maharashtra in April

This new variant of Delta AY-4 was first reported in the country in April in Maharashtra. Now infected patients have been found in Indore. However, now all the patients of Indore are completely healthy and there is no danger to them or anyone.

In the genome sequencing report found this month in Indore, two of the people who have found this variant are from New Palasia, one from Dubey's garden, three from Mhow, and one from another place. Nodal Officer Dr. Amit Malakar told that all these people are completely safe. Research is going on in the world on what is the transmission capacity of the AY-4 variant. So it is not right to say anything, but at the moment there is no such situation as panic.

Caution needed due to the high infectivity rate

According to Dr. Ravi Dosi, AY-4 is the more contagious virus. Its infectivity rate is high. In such a situation, people need to be more careful. People should not go in the crowd and wear masks. People who are not keeping social distancing right now should take care of it because the festival is near. Go out only if it is very necessary. Primarily, the people in whom this variant is being found should be quarantined at the Covid Center.

Can I get infected even after getting the vaccine?

According to Dr. Dosi, information about any new variant is available a month after it comes into circulation. It is too early to say anything now. By the way, the infection can occur even after the vaccine. This was also seen in the Delta variant. Even after getting the vaccine, many such cases are coming up, but the intensity of the effect of the virus is not there. First, the new variant has to be fully understood, then its protocol will have to be decided.

As of now, it has not been declared as a Type-A variant by ICMR. Nevertheless, full precaution will have to be taken and people who are found to have this variant will have to be isolated. As far as where this new variant comes from, it is difficult to answer. New variants come from where sampling is more.

At present, more sampling is being done in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Kerala. So it may be that it came from there. Still, people should not take it lightly and be very careful. These days people are very careless. Many people have not administered the second dose. In such a situation, it is very important to follow the corona protocol along with getting the vaccine.

The arrival of new variants

According to Dr. VP Pandey (AOD, Medicine, MYH), the infectiousness of any new variant will be known only after some time. Anyway, the arrival of new variants of every virus is a process, because its nature changes with time. People should be aware, not panic.
