The threat of Corona has started looming over Team India, which went on the England tour. The test of two players was found positive, out of which the report of one has come negative. The other is still in isolation, who will be tested on July 18. However, they do not have any symptoms.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet disclosed the names of both the players. It is being told that both of them were seen in crowded areas a few days ago. They have received the first dose of Corona Vaccine Covishield. All the players have to take the second dose in England itself.
Many players including captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have reached England along with the family. They were on a holiday with their families after playing the final of the World Test Championship in Southampton on 23 June. According to a BCCI official, most of the players of the Indian team stayed around London. Some players had also come to visit different parts of England. All the players were to join the team on 14 July.
Just 2 days before the ODI series against Pakistan i.e. on July 6, 7 people including 3 players from England came positive. After this everyone was isolated and in the first match against Pakistan a whole new team was fielded. However, all the players are fine now.
After this, the BCCI had said that the Indian team management is aware of Corona's situation in the England team. If the England Cricket Board (ECB) asks us to change our schedule or give a new protocol, we will follow it. At present, no changes have been made to the already scheduled schedule.
According to sources, we are keeping a close watch on every situation. The safety of the players is of utmost importance to us. The Corona protocol is being strictly followed and the players are being tested. The second player will be tested on 18 July. After the negative report, they will be able to practice with the team.
Team India has to play a practice match from July 20 to 22. A County Championship XI team will be formed consisting of some players from the county club of England. Against this the Indian team will play the practice match.
Team India has to play a series of 5 Test matches against England in August-September. The first match starts on 4 August in Nottingham. Earlier, India had to face defeat in three consecutive Test series in England.
