CISCE Cancels ICSE Class 10th Board Examination amid Covid Surge

In wake of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the class 10 board examination. However, the status of exams for class 12 remains the same as the previous order- the class 12 examination will be conducted at a later date in offline mode.

In a statement, the council said, "Given the present worsening situation of the Covid- 19 Pandemic in the country, the CISCE has decided to cancel the ICSE (Class X) 2021 examination. The options given in the earlier Circular dated April 16, 2021, now stands withdrawn. The safety and wellbeing of our students and teaching faculty is our topmost priority and of paramount interest."

CISCE issued a notice in this regard: 

The council further directed all CISCE affiliated schools to begin the admission process for Class XI. "In addition, schools should prepare a schedule to begin online classes for the Class XI students at the earliest. The syllabus to be followed is the ISC 2023 syllabus," the notice added.

The criterion on which basis the results will be declared for the ICSE (Class X) students and the date of result declaration will be announced by the CISCE later.

Over 2.5 lakh cases reported in India: 

India reported 2,59,170 new Coronavirus infections and 1,761 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday. This has taken the total number of positive cases in the country to 1,53,21,089. There are currently 20,31,977 active cases in the country as of Tuesday.

As many as 1,54,761 people recovered from the virus. With this, the total number of recoveries reached 1,31,08,582 in India. The death toll has reached 1,80,530 with additional 1,761 fatalities. As many as 26,94,14,035 samples tested across the country up till April 19 including 15,19,486 samples tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Meanwhile, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered in the country stands at 12,71,29,113.
