A piece of news has come to the fore amidst the campaign being run to promote vaccination to prevent the corona epidemic. A study has found that the corona vaccine made of AstraZeneca-Oxford has an adverse effect on some people. At least 11 people have been victims of Guillain-Barre and neurological disorders. Of these, 7 cases have been found in Kerala alone, where 12 lakh people were given this vaccine.
The study report states that a total of 11 people who got the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine in India and the UK have been found to have a neurological disorder called 'Guillain-Barre'. Out of this, 7 cases have been registered in Kerala and 4 in Nottingham. In Nottingham, about 7 lakh people have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca-Oxford. Let us tell you that the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is made in India under the name of Covishield.
Talk about Neurological Disorder Guillain-Barre is a rare disease. It affects the immune system, healthy tissues present in the nervous system. Especially the nerves of the face of people suffering from this syndrome become weak. According to the study, seven cases of this disease have been reported in India after taking the vaccine. These seven people had received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine and between 10-22 days after that, symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome were seen in them.
The study, published in the journal Annals of Neurology, states that for people who got Guillain-Barre syndrome disease after taking the vaccine, both sides of their face were weak. Whereas, usually it is seen in less than 20 per cent of its cases. Researchers are also surprised that in such a short time this disease spread at a much faster rate than expected. However, researchers say that the corona vaccine is safe, but despite this, there is a need to be cautious.
Researchers say that if any symptoms of the syndrome are seen after taking the vaccine, then the doctor should be contacted immediately. The symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome include weakness in the body, weak facial muscles, tingling in the extremities and irregular heartbeat. Significantly, in view of the threat of the third wave of the corona, a campaign is being run to increase the speed of vaccination in the country.
