Congress leader P. Chidambaram arrested in INX Media case was sent to judicial custody till 19 September. Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday sent former finance minister P. Chidambaram to judicial custody for 14 days in the INX Media case. Chidambaram will be sent to Tihar Central Jail following a court order.

Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar rejected Chidambaram's counsel Kapil Sibal's plea that his client should not be sent to judicial custody. Earlier, the CBI sought to send him to judicial custody, while Chidambaram's lawyer Kapil Sibal opposed it.

Chidambaram's lawyer has demanded a separate cell from the court in jail. Apart from this, a separate western toilet and no other inmate have been demanded from the court for Chidambaram to stay in Tihar Jail. Along with this, additional security has also been demanded for Chidambaram in jail.

Chidambaram will be kept in jail just like a common prisoner. The Tihar Jail Administration is awaiting a court order, after which it will be decided in which ward of Tihar Jail. It is being said that he can be kept in jail at number 7. People associated with economic offenses are kept in this prison. Chidambaram's son Karti was also kept in jail number 7.
