The country's first emergency airstrip being built on the border of Barmer-Jalore district on the Indo-Pak border will be inaugurated on Thursday. As a rehearsal, three fighter planes were landed here on Wednesday. For this, under the supervision of Air Force officers, the first Hercules plane was landed in the morning.

According to the information, under the Bharatmala project, the country's first emergency airstrip has been prepared on the border of Barmer-Jalore. However, this airstrip is only 40 kilometers from the Pakistan line. In the practice, a group of Air Force officers and cops were positioned here. During this, the primary Hercules plane was landed. This was followed by the arrival of the Agusta helicopter alongside MiG and Sukhoi. Traffic was likewise hindered here till 2 pm.

Amenities to available at Airstrip

For emergency use, the airstrip built on the border of Barmer-Jalore district has been mainly made for the Air Force. This airstrip is built at a cost of Rs 32.95 crore with 3 km in length and 33 meters in width. Two parking lots of size 40 by 180 meters have also been made at both ends of the runway so that the planes can be parked after landing. Apart from this, the ATC plinth of size 25 by 65 meters has been constructed with a double-storeyed ATC cabin with the facility of a washroom.

33 crores have been spent on this. Apart from the airport, for the first time in Indian history, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will land at an airstrip. However, about 12 such highways are being built in the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and Transport.

Defense Minister and Road Transport Minister will inaugurate the project

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will open the airport on Thursday. Earlier the air force began training on Wednesday. However, this is the first airport in the country bordering Pakistan.

On the country's first emergency airstrip on September 9, many fighter aircraft included in the Air Force fleet will land and take off with a loud noise for about one and a half hours. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will observe the trials of fighter jets at this airstrip. During this, fighter aircraft like Sukhoi Su-30, Jaguar, and MiG will make a landing on the emergency runway with a loud roar.

3 Km long runway

The emergency airstrip on Bharat Mala Highway NH-925A in Barmer at Gandhav (Bakhsar) is 3 km long and 33 meters wide. However, to build this airstrip, 32.95 crores have been spent. It is just 40 km from the Indo-Pak border.

The facility from landing to parking

Two parking spaces of 40 x 180 meters have also been made at both ends of the runway, so that fighter planes can be kept in the parking lot. Apart from this, the ATC plinth of size 25 by 65 meters has been constructed with a double-storeyed ATC cabin which has a facility of washroom also. 3.5 km from the airstrip. A long 7-meter wide service road has also been made.
