Pakistan International Airlines' Pilots refused to fly three PIA aircraft on Monday.  These three aircraft were going from Islamabad to Gilgit and Skardu.  Pilots were alleged to have ignored the Coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by the Pakistan Airline Pilot Association (PALPA), causing two pilots and one cabin crew member to become corona, his report has come back positive.  PALPA general secretary Imran Narejo told Pakistan's leading newspaper Dawn that our strike is on.

PALPA general secretary Imran Narejo told Pakistan's leading newspaper Dawn that our strike is on.  No measures have been taken by the management regarding the safety of the pilots and other crew members as three pilots and three cabin crew members have been affected by the virus.  Also said that PALPA would not compromise the safety of its members under any circumstances.

The association decided to halt flight operations after separating the four crew members of a special PIA flight by Sindh health officials when they reached Karachi from Toronto on Sunday.  PIA 605 and PK-607 for Gilgit and PK-451 for Skardu were cancelled, but two special flights arriving from Birmingham and Uzbekistan landed at the IIA on Monday carrying over 250 stranded Pakistanis.

PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez said efforts were on to continue flight operations without interruption. Also said that they are being held with PALPA to resolve the issue although the PIA has taken all security measures for employees and passengers.  According to the Aviation Division, the Civil Aviation Authority staff disinfected Gilgit Airport with chlorinated water after flight operations ceased.  So that there is no risk of infection.
