Two Omicron Patients were found in Karnataka, Said Government

The new variant of Corona Omicron has also reached India. Its first two cases in the country have been found in Karnataka. One of them is 46 and the other is 66 years old.

Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Lav Agarwal gave this information on Thursday. He said that the new variant of Corona, Omicron, is expected to spread rapidly. It can be up to 5 times more contagious. So far, 373 cases have been found in 29 countries of Omicron.

He said that for a month, the cases of corona in the country have been decreasing continuously. It is a matter of concern that the positivity rate is still more than 10% in 15 districts. It remains 5 to 10% in 18 districts.

Kerala and Maharashtra are the only two states with more than 10,000 active cases. More than 55% of the country's cases are here.

He said that 49% of the population received both doses of the vaccine. The door-to-door vaccination campaign has started. At present, there are 99,763 active cases of corona in the country. In the last 24 hours, 9,765 new cases have been reported.
