India has got a big success regarding the new variant of Corona, Omicron. Now Omicron can be traced in just a few hours. For this, the Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dibrugarh has prepared such a testing kit (omicron testing kit) from which information about whether it is Omicron or not will be known in just 2 hours. Let us tell you that at present new variants are detected through genome sequencing which takes about 3 to 4 days and it is also very expensive.
At present, the number of patients of Omicron in India is 33. At the same time, there are many suspected patients whose samples have been sent for genome sequencing. Let us tell you that the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly all over the world. To stop this rapidly spreading variant, there was a need to speed up the investigation. The research was being done for quick investigation. Meanwhile, experts from the Regional Medical Research Center working in the Northeast, having succeeded in this, have manufactured this testing kit.
The team of scientists led by Dr Vishwajyoti Borkakoti of ICMR has made this testing kit. The special feature of this kit is that it was tested on a special synthetic gene fragment of the Omicron variant. The result of which is 100% correct. Regarding this, Dr Borkakoti said that the development of this kit is necessary because at present it takes 36 hours for targeted sequencing and 4 to 5 days for total genome sequencing to detect the Omicron variant. At the same time, with this kit, Omicron will be immediately identified from the sample of a normal swab.
Let us tell you that this kit will be manufactured with both private and government partners. ICMR has given the contract to make it to Kolkata-based company GCC Biotech. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 7 thousand 992 cases have been reported across the country. At the same time, 393 patients have also died. Meanwhile, because of the increasing threat of Omicron, the central government has sent a letter to the states and union territories and directed them to monitor the cases of the corona at the district level. Let us inform you that in the last few weeks, cases of corona have increased in 27 districts of 10 states across the country.
