The government has made the booster dose free for people over the age of 18. Anurag Thakur, a Union Minister, has announced that this booster dose programme will begin on July 15 and last for 75 days.
199 crore vaccine doses have currently been administered in the nation.
Now the government's decision to give free booster doses also matters because most people in the country have received both doses of the vaccine. But negligence is shown in taking booster dose.
As a result of this, the government has decided to provide a free booster shot for 75 days in the hopes that more people will become aware of the situation and get the vaccine.
A few days ago, the government also shortened the interval for taking booster doses. Previously, a booster could only be administered after 9 months after taking the initial two doses; however, that period has recently been shortened to 6 months.
It is necessary to know here that till now only 77 crore people in the age group of 18 to 59 years have got a booster dose.
In such a situation, this free campaign is being run to increase this figure.
Talking about the corona meter of the country, in the last 24 hours 16,906 new cases have been reported and 45 patients have died.
At present, the number of active patients in the country has increased to 1,32,457.
