Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, 200,456,429 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 180,675,853 people have recovered, while 4,263,287 people have died.

Long-lasting COVID-19 Symptoms Rare in Children: Lancet Study

Most children who develop coronavirus symptoms recover after six days, and the number who experience symptoms beyond four weeks is low, according to a large UK study published in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health journal. The study, based on data reported through a smartphone app by parents and carers, provides the first detailed description of COVID-19 illness in symptomatic school-aged children.

Meanwhile, Professor Emma Duncan, lead author of the study said, "It is reassuring that the number of children experiencing long-lasting symptoms of COVID-19 symptoms is low. Nevertheless, a small number of children do experience long illness with COVID-19, and our study validates the experiences of these children and their families."

Covaxin effective against Delta Plus Variant of COVID-19: ICMR

Covaxin is effective in providing immunity against the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19, according to a new study conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has found. Earlier, Bharat Biotech had said that Covaxin has shown 77.8 per cent effectiveness against symptomatic COVID-19. 65.2 per cent protection against the new delta variant.

More than 42,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 42,625 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,17,69,132. With 562 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,25,757.

The country also witnessed 36,668 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,09,33,022. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.38 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %. Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country stands at 4,10,353. The active cases rate in India stands at 1.28 %.
