Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, 196,820,227 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 178,195,503 people have recovered, while 4,205,314 people have died.

US FDA extends expiration dates on J&J COVID-19 vaccine to 6 months:

US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday again extended the expiration dates on Johnson & Johnson's Coronavirus vaccine. This provides health workers six more weeks to use millions of doses of the vaccine. Vaccine expiration dates are based on drug manufacturers' information about how long the shots might work properly.

In a letter to Johnson & Johnson, the FDA said that vaccines remain safe and effective for at least six months when properly stored and refrigerated. This is the second time the FDA has extended the expiration date of vaccines since June. The agency said they can be used for up to four and a half months. When first approving the vaccines in February, the FDA said that the vaccines could be stored for up to three months.

Sydney extends lockdown restriction until end of August:

In view of the rapidly increasing cases of COVID-19 in Australia, a month-long lockdown will be extended by at least another four weeks in country's largest city Sydney. The delta variant has been wreaking havoc in Australia since last month. Despite the lockdown, cases of coronavirus have increased rapidly in Australia. Extending the lockdown in Sydney for another 4 weeks, officials have instructed the police to be strict.

In Sydney, an Australian city with a population of more than 5 million, the State Government of New South Wales has announced that the city of Sydney will remain in lockdown until August 28. Let us tell you that on Wednesday, 177 new infections reported in Sydney in the latest 24-hour.

More than 43,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 43,509 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,15,28,114. With 640 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,22,662.

The country also witnessed 38,465 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,07,01,612. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.38 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %. Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country stands at 4,03,840. The active cases rate in India stands at 1.31 %.
