Meanwhile, the mass vaccination is underway at London's club Chelsea and Tottenham Football Stadium in Britain. According to Public Health England, cases of the delta variant in the younger population have increased by 79% in last one week.
US President Joe Biden has announced that 300 million vaccine shots administered in the 150 days since he took office. The country has set a target of administering at least one dose to 70% of adults by July 4. So far, 65 percent of the people administered at least one dose. Biden appreciated scientists, companies, citizens and his whole-of-government effort. The president noted that the widespread vaccination campaign had set the stage for most Americans to have a relatively normal summer as businesses reopen and employers hire.
India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 53,256 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 2,99,35,221. With 1,422 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 3,88,135.
The country also witnessed 78,190 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,88,44,199. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 96.36%. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.30%. There has been a steady decline in active cases of coronavirus in the country. According to the latest data of the Union Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, the active cases in the country have been reduced by 26,356.
