Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, so far 159,029,697 have found infected. Of these, 136,603,382 people have been cured, while 3,308,277 people have died.

Meanwhile, 6,49,140 coronavirus cases with 10,206 deaths reported in the last 24 hours in the world. At the same time, the US reported 22,200 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest single-day spike since June 2020.

Ibuprofen safe, doesn't raise Covid death risk: Study

According to a new study, anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen do not increase the risk of developing a severe form of COVID-19 and don't raise death risk in patients. The findings are published in The Lancet Rheumatology journal.

Meanwhile, lead author Ewen Harrison, from the University of Edinburgh said, "We now have clear evidence that NSAIDs are safe to use in patients with Covid-19, which should provide reassurance to both clinicians and patients that they can continue to be used in the same way as before the pandemic began."

Over 3.66 cases reported in India:

India reported 3,66,161 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 2,26,62,575, the Union Health Ministry reported on Monday. With 3,754 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, the death toll has mounted to 2,46,116. Currently, there are 37,45,237 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The country also witnessed as many as 3,53,818 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,86,71,222. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 30,37,50,077 samples  tested for COVID-19 up to May 09. Of these 14,74,606 samples were tested on Sunday. The total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered stand at over 17,01,76,603 crore, informed the health ministry.
