Coronavirus Outbreak: Film Industry to Face Loss of more than 900 Crores

The corona virus outbreak is increasing day by day in India. The number of people caught in the virus has crossed the 100 mark at this time. Due to this virus, theaters and malls have been closed in many states of the country. The decision has been taken to discontinue the shooting of films, TV shows and web series.

Now the entertainment industry is reading a huge loss in this situation. While the release of many films has been postponed due to the coronavirus, the audience did not reach theaters to see the films that were released. How do trade analysts view these conditions and tell you how much further impact this will have on the film industry in the coming times.

Impact on recent releases
The effect of the Corona virus outbreak was first seen on Tiger Shroff's film Baaghi 3. The film did not receive opening and collections as anticipated at the box office.

Releasing on 6 March, the opening collection of this film was estimated between 20 to 25 crores but after the release the film was able to earn only 17 crores. Although the film was not so popular during the time when it was released, people started avoiding crowded places. At the same time, in the second week of the film, more than half of theaters in the country were closed.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has suffered from 15 crores to 20 crores in its opening week. At the same time, the condition of Irrfan Khan and Radhika Madan starrer Angregi Medium is worse than Baaghi 3. The day the film was about to be released, the orders came for closing theaters in delhi. At the same time, the next day, theaters were ordered to be closed in many cities of Maharashtra.

Made at a cost of about 30 crores, this film has grossed only 9 crores in its first weekend. At the same time, the reaction of its producer Dinesh Vijan about the film also came to light. He said, "We could not have avoided the film by wanting to release it. The film was released in Arabia a day earlier. By the time this decision came from the government, it was too late and we had no choice but to release it.

Upcoming films will be affected
The release dates of many films due to Coronavirus have also been avoided. In such a situation, the film industry will also have to face losses. Talking about the upcoming big films, Akshay Kumar's film 'Sooryavanshi' was to be released on March 24 this month. At the same time, the release date of Ranveer Singh starrer '83' has also been extended.

Taran Adarsh said about the loss in the film industry, "It is a little hurry to get the idea right now. As of now, the shooting has been banned by the governments till 31 March. But we will have to wait for now to know what will be the situation in the country after March 31. If the situation is normal then only it can be estimated how much damage was done in the past. At the same time, if I talk about it, then the industry may have to bear a huge loss of at least 600 crores to 900 crores.

Taran Adarsh also says that in the country as the cases are increasing one after the other, in such a situation, it will take time to become normal. Due to this, these figures of loss can increase even more.
