Coronavirus: India Records Highest-Ever Single-Day Spike with over 2 Lakh Cases

India reported its highest-ever single-day spike with over 2 lakh coronavirus cases on Thursday, according to the Union Health Ministry. With 2,00,739 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India recorded the highest single-day spike ever since the pandemic began last year. The country's total tally now stands at 1,40,74,564, including 14,71,877 active cases.

Meanwhile, India also reported 1,038 fresh cases of COVID-related fatalities, and death toll rises to 1,73,123 in the last 24 hours The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,24,29,564. India currently is the second worst-hit country in the world in terms of COVID-19 cases. The country has tested 26,20,03,415 samples for COVID-19 until now. Among these, 13,84,549 samples were tested on Wednesday. Meanwhile, as many as 11,44,93,238 people have been vaccinated against the virus.

Maharashtra: Over 58,000 cases reported

On Wednesday, the state reported 58,952 new  Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 39,624 patients recovered and 278 died. So far, 35.78 lakh people have been affected by the epidemic in the state. Of these, 29.05 lakh people have recovered, while 58,804 have died. Currently, there are about 6.12 lakh people, who are undergoing treatment.

Delhi: 17,000 cases reported in the last 24 hours

On Wednesday, 17,282 coronavirus cases reported in the state. Meanwhile, 9,952 people recovered and 104 died. So far, 7.67 lakh people have been infected here. Of these, 7.05 lakh have be cured, while 11,540 patients lost their lives. Currently, there are 50,736 patients who are undergoing treatment.

Gujarat: Nearly 7500 cases reported here

On Wednesday, 7,410 fresh cases reported in the state. At the same time, 2,642 people were recovered and 73 died. Till now, 3.67 lakh people have been infected. Of these, 3.23 lakh have been cured, while 4,995 patients have died. There are 39,250 patients who are undergoing treatment.
