Coronavirus in India: 1000 Labs Now in the Country, with Record 2.15 Lakh Tests Conducted in 24 Hours

There are now 730 government and 270 private labs in the country

Coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in the country and now around fifteen thousand new cases are coming up every day. Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research has created a new record, now there are a total of 1000 labs to test the coronavirus in India. While a record 2.15 lakh tests have been conducted in the country in the last 24 hours.

According to data released by ICMR on Wednesday, 2,15,195 tests were conducted in the country in the last 24 hours. It should be noted that it includes all the tests being conducted in the current era, i.e. RT-PCR and antigen tests, with this, the number of coronavirus tests done in the country has reached to 73,52,911. India is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of total testing and so far, more tests have been conducted in India than in the US, Russia and UK, although India is far behind in terms of testing on a per million basis.

Now there are a thousand labs in the country, where samples of coronavirus are tested. In February, when the Coronavirus was gaining momentum in the country, there was only one lab in the country, which was in Pune. These labs have been prepared in the last three months and the next goal of ICMR is to do three lakh tests every day. Let us tell you that there are now 730 government and 270 private labs in the country.
