Laxmi Ratna Shukla, a former veteran of the Indian team and current MLA, has donated his MLA salary and pension from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the government to fight the Coronavirus. He is currently the Sports Minister of West Bengal.

Lakshmi Ratna Shukla has decided to donate his three months' MLA salary and BCCI pension to the state government against the battle of COVID-19 epidemic. So far 735 coronavirus patients have been reported in India, while 10 corona positive cases have been reported in Bengal, one of which has died. The death toll from Coronavirus has increased to 17 across the country. At the same time, over 24000 people have lost their lives all over the world.

On Friday, Lakshmi Ratna Shukla said, "It is the need of the hour that we all contribute to the best of our abilities. I have given three months' salary of MLA post to the Chief Minister Relief Fund. I have also decided to donate a three-month pension from BCCI. " Apart from these, many players have donated their salary to the governments.

Laxmi Ratna Shukla has played 3 ODIs for India in 1999. After this, he suffered an ankle injury, due to which he remained out of the team for a long time and never got a chance again. However, he became known as a respected all-rounder in domestic cricket. Along with Bengal, he has represented the East Zone in more than 100 First-Class matches. Apart from this, he has also been a part of the IPL winning team Kolkata Knight Riders.
